Kristen Fischer, a woman who relocated to New Delhi, India in 2022, recently took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt post in which she explained her decision to move to India.

In the post, she addressed the question people had in their minds: Why would someone leave the comforts of a country like the USA and move to a developing nation like India?

Fischer challenged these assumptions in the post by emphasizing that India offers something much more than material wealth. According to her, India fosters a deeper sense of community, relationships and personal fulfillment, which are riches she would not be able to make in the USA.

She said that her choice was driven by factors like happiness, connection and life experience, and not by financial wealth.

Fischer also added that in India her children would be able to take advantage of India's diverse culture and gain exposure to such a highly interwoven community which would simply never be possible in the USA.

While many people have supported Kristen's decision, some have strongly opposed it. Many Indians have come forward to say that her experience does not resonate with 99% of Indians, and is not reflective of an average Indian, who has to struggle just with their basic needs. Many Americans, while supporting her, have also advised her that India, like any other place, has its flaws as well.
