In the video, several men who were allegedly pantry staff can be seen entering the train compartment and confronting the passenger while he rests on his upper berth.
Despite his repeated mention that he had merely complained about overpricing, one of the men climbs up and physically attacks him. The passenger later stated he suffered injuries, torn clothes, and visible bleeding.
The altercation reportedly began when Vishal was sold a bottle of "Wonder Aqua" water for ā¹20. When he questioned the price and the product's approval status, he was told no alternatives were available. Concerned, he filed a formal complaint through the RailMadad app. Not long after a follow-up call from railway officials, he faced the violent confrontation.
Indian Railways responded swiftly after the video gained traction. In a post on X, the official Railway Seva account confirmed that the matter is under serious review. A ā¹5 lakh penalty has been imposed on the catering service, and an FIR has been registered by the GRP in Kathua. Authorities have assured that further strict action will follow based on the investigation.
