While Hrithik has years of experience and a deep understanding of commercial cinema, this move has been interpreted by some as a power play. Many insiders feel the film now reflects a shared vision instead of being a project clearly directed by Ayan.

Tensions have reportedly spilled into the post-production and promotional stages. Ayan has apparently taken a step back from the film's marketing, while YRF's top management is said to be intervening to smooth things over.

There were already rumours that Ayan had been struggling with the film's direction and that other directors were brought in to help during the shoot. With War 2 being a key film in the YRF Spyverse, the team knows it cannot afford to go wrong.
