Arnab Goswami has long been seen as the poster face of right wing aligned television media. From his days at Times Now, he was known as a strong supporter of the BJP and a fierce critic of the Congress party.
Through his prime time shows, Arnab Goswami aggressively targeted the Congress leadership. He played a key role in shaping the public perception of Rahul Gandhi during that phase of television news debates.
In 2016, Arnab Goswami resigned from Times Now and launched his own channel, Republic TV. The channel quickly climbed to the top of the BARC ratings and continued to be viewed as supportive of the BJP.
However, Arnab Goswami has recently surprised many by taking an aggressive stand against the BJP on multiple issues. This shift first became visible during the Indigo controversy, where he strongly criticised the Civil Aviation Ministry.
Initially, many assumed the criticism was aimed at the TDP ministry and that the BJP would escape blame. But Arnab has continued to question the BJP government, extending his criticism to issues like pollution in Delhi.
More recently, reports emerged that six children with thalassemia tested HIV positive after contaminated blood transfusions. The incidents reportedly occurred between January and May 2025 at a district hospital in Satna, Madhya Pradesh.
Arnab Goswami went after the BJP led government of Dr. Mohan Yadav over this issue. His sharp coverage has triggered widespread discussion on social media about a possible rift between Arnab and the BJP.
Critics claim Arnab is attempting to exert pressure on the saffron party through aggressive questioning. Others believe this approach is meant to project a neutral image without causing serious damage to the government.
According to this view, such neutrality could later help Republic TV support the BJP during crucial political moments. The real intent behind this shift may become clearer in the coming days.
