YSRCP has filed a petition against the recently approved Waqf Act 2025, in the Supreme Court. It is known that the party had voted against the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Parliament.
YSRCP head YS Jagan has maintained that his party will work in the best interests of the minorities. As a part of this, YSRCP voted against the Waqf Amendment Bill.

In the past, YSRCP was among the parties to protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill, following which the central government constituted a joint Parliamentary committee. However, the central government introduced the Bill once again and the YSRCP MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha voted against it.
The TDP has failed the Muslims once again. Though Chandrababu promised to take care of the Muslims, he failed them by voting for the Waqf Bill, the YSRCP maintains.

The YSRCP said in its petition that Muslims have to be treated like other religions. The Center must not interfere with their property matters, said YSRCP's petition.
However, the Bill became an Act as it was passed in LS and RS. The President also gave her approval to the Bill.

Already, a lot of petitions were filed against it in the Supreme Court. The latest is from YSRCP.
"The Bill violates Articles 13, 14, 25, 26 of the Constitution. The provisions that guarantee fundamental rights, equality before law, freedom of religion and autonomy of religious denominations to manage their own affairs.
Inclusion of non-Muslim members in the Board undermines the religious character and administrative independence of the Board," YSRCP shared on its X handle.
