Nagpur: A case of alleged sexual harassment has been reported at the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) office, where a woman employee accused two brokers of making obscene gestures, staring at her inappropriately, and behaving in an offensive manner.
The Sadar Police have registered a case against both accused and initiated an investigation.
According to police, the complainant, a 35-year-old Engineering Assistant employed at the NIT office, alleged that the two accused, who frequently visit the office in connection with official work, had been repeatedly staring at female employees and making objectionable gestures.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 25 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., when the two brokers visited the NIT office regarding work related to an RL (Revised Layout) for a plot. After being informed that the matter did not pertain to the concerned department, the accused allegedly stood behind the complainant’s chair.
The complainant asked them to move away. However, one of the accused allegedly touched her shoulder from behind and remarked that she was “beautiful,” causing the woman to feel uncomfortable and intimidated.
Based on the woman’s complaint, the Sadar Police have registered a case against both accused under the relevant provisions of law. No arrests have been made so far, and further investigation is underway.
