Overview of the Agniveer Recruitment Initiative
The Agniveer recruitment program is a key component of the Agnipath initiative, aimed at enlisting young individuals into the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
This scheme allows selected candidates, known as 'Agniveers,' to serve in the armed forces for a duration of four years. Serving in the Indian Army is widely regarded as a prestigious endeavor, offering not only respect and honor but also significant financial rewards. All Agniveers receive an annual salary that increases progressively over their four-year service period. Upon completing their tenure, they are eligible for a 'Seva Nidhi' (Service Fund) package.
Salary Structure for Agniveers
The service duration for an Agniveer is four years, with the following salary structure:
| Year | Monthly Salary | Take-Home Pay | Corpus Fund Contribution |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ₹30,000 | ₹21,000 | ₹9,000 |
| 2 | ₹33,000 | ₹23,100 | ₹9,900 |
| 3 | ₹36,500 | ₹25,550 | ₹10,950 |
| 4 | ₹40,000 | ₹28,000 | ₹12,000 |
In the first year, Agniveers earn ₹30,000 monthly, with ₹9,000 allocated to the Agniveer Corpus Fund, resulting in a take-home pay of ₹21,000. The Government of India matches this contribution. In the second year, the salary increases to ₹33,000, providing a take-home of ₹23,100 after a ₹9,900 contribution to the fund. The third year sees a salary of ₹36,500, with take-home pay of ₹25,550. Finally, in the fourth year, the monthly salary reaches ₹40,000, allowing for a take-home of ₹28,000.
Understanding the 'Seva Nidhi' Scheme
After completing four years, Agniveers receive a tax-free lump-sum 'Seva Nidhi' package of approximately ₹10.04 lakh. This amount includes the Agniveer's contributions, the government's matching contributions, and interest accrued during service. Additionally, Agniveers benefit from an insurance coverage of ₹48 lakh and receive a skill certificate, enhancing their employability in the future.
