Three residents of Punjab have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a driver, conductor, and two passengers of a Delhi-bound bus after a heated argument over a road rage incident in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district, police officials confirmed on Thursday.

The accused have been identified by the police as Nishan Pal (46), a native of Sagla village in the Hoshiarpur district; Balvinder Singh (45); and Alish (21), both of whom belong to the Pathankot region of Punjab, they said.

The incident took place on Wednesday night near Thural Village when a dispute ensued between the culprits and the bus driver.

All three accused, who were travelling in a Thar, got angry after they failed to overtake the bus, leading to an exchange of heated words between the two sides. Later, the accused stopped the bus and started verbal exchanges with the driver, conductor, and passengers on the bus. Besides, police officials said that they also fired shots in the air to intimidate the victims.

The police reached the spot and arrested the accused while rushing the injured to Tanda Medical College, where they are undergoing medical treatment.

Police said that a weapon used in the crime has also been recovered from the crime scene.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Rattan confirmed the report and said a case under sections 109, 126(2), 352, 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is ongoing.
