A joint operation by the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Raxaul, a border area of Motihari district in Bihar, has created a stir in the entire area. For over 30 hours, continuous raids have been underway at the premises of prominent Raxaul businessman Mohammad Kaleem. It is reported that the Income Tax Department team had been monitoring Mohammad Kaleem's activities for the past six months, leading to this major action.
According to sources, this high-profile raid is being led by a female director-level officer. Along with the Income Tax Department, the ED team is also involved in this operation. The scope of the investigation is continuously expanding. Now, raids are being conducted not only on Mohammad Kaleem, but also on the premises of his relatives and close associates. Teams have visited more than five locations in Raxaul, including Chawal Bazaar and Parewa, to examine documents and transactions.

According to reports, the Income Tax team has also raided the Ashram Road residence of Chartered Accountant Mohammad Kaleem, where a thorough investigation of documents is underway. While previously deployed by the Border Security Force (BMP) personnel, the paramilitary force, the SSB, has now been assigned to maintain security. A large number of SSB personnel are deployed from the road to shops and residential areas.
Huge amount of cash and jewellery recovered: Sources
According to Income Tax sources, a large amount of cash and jewelry was recovered during the raid. The seized cash reportedly included old 2,000 rupee notes. Several important documents related to the land purchase were also found, which are being investigated. However, officials are refraining from making any official comments at this time. They say that the total amount of cash, jewelry, and property-related documents recovered will only be clear after the raid is complete.
