Vehicle drivers without a High Security Number Plate (HSRP) will now face a fine of ten thousand rupees. This rule came into effect today.
This rule has been strictly enforced in Uttar Pradesh. Notably, vehicles without an HSRP will not be issued a "Pollution Under Control" (PUC) certificate.
According to reports, these rules will apply to vehicles purchased before April 1, 2019. Government officials have stated that failing to issue a PUC certificate means such vehicles will not be legally permitted to drive on the road.
Previously, a fine of five thousand rupees was imposed for not having an HSRP, but now it will not be issued on the PUC certificate. If your vehicle does not have a high-security number plate, get one installed immediately. Of the 20.50 lakh private vehicles registered in Lucknow as of March 31, 2019, only 6.72 lakh vehicles have HSRP installed.
