Aishwarya Rai Bachchan debuts as an angel investor, invests in a Bengaluru startup Ambee
Bollywood is turning out to be a huge help for budding businesses and entrepreneurs. Deepika Padukone invested in Drum Foods International Pvt. Ltd, the maker of the yogurt brand Epigamia. Padukone is not alone in her investing initiative, many actors, including Priyanka Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, among others, have funded startups. Not only have they invested in startups, some actors such as 'Rang De Basanti' actor Kunal Kapoor have also started companies. Kunal Kapoor, along with Varun Seth, co-founded the crowdfunding NGO and charity-based startup Ketto. Now the latest name in the list is of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with her mother Vrinda K R has invested Rs 1 crore in Bengaluru-based environment startup Ambee, which uses data to measure metrics like air quality, according to regulatory documents sourced from business intelligence platform Paper.vc
Founded in 2017 by Akshay Joshi, Jaideep Singh and Madhusudan Anand, Ambee provides data about hyperlocal air quality which is accessible to developers, consumers, health researchers and media companies. The platform uses proprietary data and analytics to help end users make informed decisions or take preventive measures in a situation of severe environmental distress.
