Students and parents often overlook essential documents, which can lead to last-minute delays or rejection of admission forms. What documents are required while changing school after 10th?
10th Mark Sheet: The original mark sheet takes time to arrive, till then you can use the internet copy downloaded from the board website, which is attested by the principal of your old school.
Transfer Certificate (TC) or School Leaving Certificate (SLC): A TC from your previous school is mandatory. Without one, no school will grant you permanent admission. Ensure the TC bears the school's seal and countersignature.
Migration Certificate: If you are changing your board like from CBSE to State Board or ICSE, then you will need a migration certificate issued by the board.
Character Certificate: This certificate is issued by the school to confirm your behavior and discipline. It is often requested when enrolling in a new school.
Aadhaar Card: Both the student and the parent must have an updated Aadhaar card. The name spelling and date of birth on the Aadhaar card must match those on your 10th grade marksheet.
Passport-sized photos - Have at least 5-10 new photos ready. Try to have a white or light 'line-height:normal'>Address Proof: Electricity bill, rent agreement or ration card may be required so that the school can check whether you fall within their zone.
If you want to avail benefits under any particular category, then keep the following documents with you-
Caste Certificate: If you belong to SC, ST or OBC category, then carry the certificate issued by the authority.
Income Certificate: If you are applying for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) quota or scholarship, then parent's income certificate will be required.
Medical Certificate: Many schools ask for a health fitness certificate from students, especially if the student has any allergies or special medical conditions.
How to prevent form rejection?
- While filling the form, write the spelling of your name, parents' name and date of birth as per the marksheet.
- Each school has its own deadline. Instead of waiting until the last day, fill out the form early.
- Make at least 3-4 photocopies of all original documents. Original documents are for verification purposes only; do not submit them to the school.
