Chennai Super Kings (CSK) spinner Aqeel Hussain has yet to feature in IPL 2026 matches but is keeping a close eye on the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the meantime.
IPL 2026 Status
Hussain, acquired by CSK at his base price of ₹2 crore, has not played in the team's first three matches, all of which the franchise lost. His participation in the upcoming match remains under consideration, which could mark his IPL debut for CSK. Known for his versatility, he can bowl in the powerplay and also open the batting, making him a valuable all-round option.
Focus on PSL
Despite being in India for the IPL, Hussain has been actively following the PSL. On April 6, he shared photos on Instagram from the match between Multan Sultans and Rawalpindi, praising the batting of Rawalpindi's Dion Forrester, who hit three sixes during the game.
Career Highlights
- PSL: Debuted in 2022-23 with Multan Sultans; later played for Quetta Gladiators in 2023-24 and 2025. Accumulated 128 runs and 18 wickets in 14 matches.
- IPL: Debuted in IPL 2023 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, playing one match and taking one wicket. CSK marks his second IPL franchise.
Hussain's dual focus on IPL and PSL highlights the growing trend of players leveraging experience across leagues to sharpen their skills and maintain competitive form.
