EPFO Date of Exit Update : Did you know that if your previous company hasn't updated your DOE (Date of Exit) on the EPFO portal, you can't withdraw your full PF balance?
However, you don't need to visit the government or your former company to update your DOE. You can update your DOE yourself on your phone. To do this, you'll need to follow a few steps on the EPFO portal.
How to Mark Exit in EPFO Portal Online: Whether you want to withdraw your entire PF amount or transfer it to a new PF account, it is essential that your previous company has updated the date of exit. It is often seen that many PF members are worried that their date of leaving the job is not recorded on the portal. For this, you do not need to visit your old company or any government office. You can also update the DOE (Date of Exit) on EPFO online from your phone.
Why is it necessary to update DOE?
Explain that updating the DOE is important because:
- You cannot withdraw the entire PF amount without updating the DOE.
- Apart from this, it is necessary to enter the date of leaving the job to withdraw your pension amount by filling Form 10C.
- To transfer the money from the old company to the new account, it is also necessary to update EPFO.
How to update DOE on EPFO?
Updating your date of exit is easy on the EPFO website. To do this, you can:
- Search EPFO on Google and go to the official website of Member Unified Portal and login by entering your UAN number and password.
- After logging in, go to the View tab and click on Service History. If the Date of Exit next to your previous company's name says "Not Available," you'll need to update it.
- Now note the joining date of the new company (where you are currently working). Your exit date from your old company should always be before your joining date at the new company.
- After this, click on the Manage tab given above and select the Mark Exit option at the bottom.
- Now select your old company from the menu whose Date of Exit you want to update.
- A small form will open. Select the date you left your job, or the date of exit, and select "Short Service" as the reason for cessation.
- Then, tick the checkbox and click Request OTP. You will receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- After entering the OTP, submit the changes. Your exit will be updated immediately, and you can check it by visiting the service.
Keep these things in mind
While updating DOE yourself on the EPFO portal, you must keep 5 things in mind, such as
- You cannot update the DOE immediately after leaving your job. You must wait 60 days.
- Keep in mind that the exit date should always be before the joining date at the new company. If the two dates conflict, the EPFO may treat it as a technical error and withhold your funds.
- While updating DOE, please select the actual date of leaving the job.
- When updating your DOE online, you'll be asked for the reason for leaving your job. You can choose either Short Service or Cessation. Choosing the wrong reason could result in problems receiving your pension.
- Apart from this, this entire process is OTP based, hence your Aadhar card should be linked to your mobile number and that number should be present and active with you.
