Bangladesh's rising fast bowler Nahid Rana delivered an outstanding performance in the second ODI against the New Zealand national cricket team in Dhaka, playing a key role in restricting the visitors to a modest total.
The 23-year-old right-arm pacer returned impressive figures of 5 for 32 in his 10 overs, dismantling half of New Zealand's batting lineup. Thanks to his disciplined and aggressive spell, New Zealand were bowled out for 198 in 48.4 overs, falling short of the 200-run mark.
This marked Rana's second five-wicket haul in ODIs, achieved within a short span of around 40 days. His best figures in the format remain 5 for 24, which he recorded earlier against Pakistan in Mirpur. With this latest performance, Rana has now taken 10 wickets in just 10 matches, underlining his strong start at the international level.
During his spell, Rana picked up key wickets including Henry Nicholls, Will Young, Mohammad Abbas, Dean Foxcroft, and Jayden Lynks, effectively breaking the backbone of New Zealand's batting order. Nick Kelly emerged as the top scorer for New Zealand with 83 runs.
The three-match ODI series is now finely poised. New Zealand had taken a 1-0 lead by winning the opening game by 26 runs, but Bangladesh have bounced back strongly in the second match. With momentum on their side, they now have a solid opportunity to level the series.
