A shocking case of violence over a trivial dispute has emerged from Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli, where a dhaba owner and his associates allegedly attacked four members of a family with iron rods and sticks over a difference of just ₹2 in the bill.
The incident took place near the District Hospital intersection in the Kotwali area. According to reports, the victims-residents of Unnao-had come to visit a relative admitted to the hospital. During a meal at a nearby dhaba, a minor disagreement over the bill reportedly escalated into a brutal assault.
Family Attacked, Women Not Spared
The accused, identified as Shiva Sonkar, allegedly began abusing the family before launching a violent attack along with his aides. The victims, including a young man, his elderly father, and two women, were beaten mercilessly with rods and sticks. Even the women who tried to intervene were not spared.
The injured were rushed to the District Hospital, where doctors confirmed that the young man suffered serious head injuries and remains in critical condition. The others are also undergoing treatment.
Accused Has Criminal History
Police records indicate that Shiva Sonkar is a known history-sheeter with multiple cases registered against him, including charges of attempted murder, robbery, and extortion. The incident has raised serious concerns about law and order, especially as it occurred near a sensitive location like a hospital.
Police Launch Manhunt
Following the attack, the आरोपी fled the scene. Police have registered a case based on the family's complaint and have begun raids to apprehend the accused. Authorities say CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts are being used to track down those involved.
The incident has sparked outrage locally, highlighting how a minor dispute spiraled into a violent episode, once again putting the spotlight on rising incidents of unchecked aggression and criminal intimidation.
