The Bengaluru outlet of One8 Commune, once associated with Virat Kohli, has been shut down following a court order over unpaid dues. The decision came after the restaurant reportedly failed to clear around ₹2 crore in rent and other charges, leading the property owner to take legal action.
According to reports, the civil court in Bengaluru ordered the premises to be locked after months of non-payment. The restaurant, operated by Trio Hills Hospitality, had allegedly defaulted on rent for nearly six months, along with pending maintenance fees and revenue-sharing obligations. Despite repeated notices, the dues remained unpaid, ultimately forcing the owner to approach the court.
Amid the controversy, Virat Kohli has completely distanced himself from the venture. Once the face of the brand, he has now ended his association and removed the "One8" branding linked to him. This move signals a clear break from the struggling business.
This isn't the first time One8 Commune has faced trouble. In the past, authorities had issued notices related to fire safety and regulatory violations. The recent shutdown, however, stems primarily from financial issues, with declining footfall and business losses being cited as key reasons behind the mounting debt.
For now, the restaurant will remain closed until all outstanding payments are cleared. The situation highlights how even celebrity-backed ventures can face serious operational and financial challenges if business fundamentals are not sustained.
