Akasa Air pilot dies of heart attack during training

Akasa Air pilot dies of heart attack during training

News Karnataka 0 months ago

An Akasa Air pilot died after suffering a heart attack while undergoing training in Bengaluru, the airline confirmed on Thursday.

The deceased, a 44-year-old captain, experienced a sudden medical emergency while on ground training duty.

He was immediately attended to and rushed to a nearby hospital, but could not be saved.

In a statement, the airline expressed deep sorrow over the loss. 'We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our pilot colleagues who had a personal medical emergency while on ground training duty,' the spokesperson said.

The airline added that it is extending all possible support to the pilot's family, loved ones, and colleagues during this difficult time.

This marks at least the second instance of a pilot from an Indian carrier dying due to a heart attack in recent days. Earlier, an Air India pilot passed away while on scheduled rest in Bali.

The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about health-related emergencies among aviation professionals, though no direct link between the cases has been established.

Authorities and airlines are expected to review protocols to ensure timely medical response and support systems for crew members.
