Apoorva Mukhija Breaks Silence on Death Threats and Lost Deals

News Karnataka 11 months ago

Social media personality and actor Apoorva Mukhija has broken her silence on the intense backlash she faced during the India's Got Latent controversy, revealing she even received death threats . In a candid interview with Yuvaa, Apoorva described how the incident derailed her career and mental well-being.

While she initially wanted to speak up, she said her close circle strongly advised silence to avoid further media scrutiny. 'I was told that even one line from me would start another cycle of trolling and news debates,' she recalled. During this difficult time, she found strength in her support system and even video-called Rhea Chakraborty, who had herself endured a vicious media trial in 2020. Apoorva said she was desperate to hear someone say, 'Everything will be okay.'

The controversy not only impacted her personally but professionally. 'All the brand deals vanished in a day. Everyone said 2024 would be my year, and suddenly it wasn't,' she shared, admitting she lost considerable business due to the backlash.

The controversy began when Apoorva, along with Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani, appeared on Samay Raina's panel show India's Got Latent in February. Remarks made on the show sparked outrage, leading to FIRs and restrictions on Ranveer's content. Though the Supreme Court later allowed Ranveer to resume work, the incident deeply affected all involved.

Apoorva's latest film Nadaaniyan, co-starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, released on Netflix amid the row—without any promotion from her end.
