Mangaluru: An auto-rickshaw overturned after it was hit by another auto-rickshaw that allegedly came from the wrong direction near the Nethravathi bridge at Thokkottu on Wednesday.
The collision caused the auto-rickshaw to overturn before hitting a nearby Thar SUV. The drivers reportedly sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Wrong-side driving suspected
According to available information, the accident occurred when one of the auto-rickshaws allegedly approached from the wrong side and collided with the other vehicle.
The impact was strong enough to overturn the auto-rickshaw. The overturned vehicle subsequently struck a Thar SUV parked or travelling nearby, resulting in damage to the vehicles.
The driver of the auto-rickshaw that allegedly came from the wrong direction reportedly fled the scene immediately after the collision.
No casualties reported
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident. The drivers involved are said to have suffered minor injuries.
The accident caused concern among motorists in the area, particularly given the location near the Nethravathi bridge, where traffic movement can be heavy.
