Bengaluru Yellow Line gets 10th train ahead of launch

Bengaluru Yellow Line gets 10th train ahead of launch

News Karnataka 3 weeks ago

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has received the 10th trainset for the much-awaited Yellow Line, marking another key step towards the launch of passenger services.

All six coaches of the newly arrived train have been unloaded at the Hebbagodi depot.

Officials said the train will now undergo coupling and gangway fitment before being shifted to the inspection bay for technical checks.

The trainset must complete at least 750 km of mainline trial runs before it can be cleared for commercial use.

If testing progresses as planned, the latest train may enter service by the third week of May.

The ninth train, delivered earlier by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd, is currently undergoing trial runs and is expected to begin passenger service in early May.

This phased induction of trainsets is expected to strengthen readiness for full-scale operations on the corridor.

With 10 trains available, peak-hour frequency on the 19.75-km RV Road-Bommasandra Yellow Line is expected to improve to every 6 to 7 minutes.

Officials also said one train will be kept as a reserve to handle emergencies or operational needs.

The Yellow Line is one of Bengaluru's most anticipated metro corridors as it connects key residential and industrial zones, including the busy Electronics City region.

Once operational, the line is expected to significantly reduce travel time and traffic congestion for thousands of daily commuters.
