A shocking early-morning murder on TC Palya Main Road in east Bengaluru has sent ripples of fear across the locality, after a 27-year-old man was brutally assaulted in an incident captured on CCTV.
The victim, identified as Kiran, was travelling towards KR Puram between 4:00 am and 4:30 am on Sunday when he was intercepted by two men travelling in an autorickshaw.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused and the victim engaged in a heated argument that lasted over 20 minutes. During the altercation, Kiran allegedly used abusive language, following which one of the accused attacked him with a hydraulic jack, striking him on the face.
The sudden assault caused Kiran to collapse on the road. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Despite the early hour, the entire sequence of events was captured on nearby CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for investigators. Police sources indicated that the visuals played a key role in identifying and tracing the suspects.
Officials also revealed that the victim and the accused were known to each other and were involved in a financial dispute, which is believed to have triggered the violent confrontation.
The Bengaluru Police responded promptly, with the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) team examining the location and collecting forensic evidence. The victim's body was later shifted for post-mortem.
Two special teams were formed under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) to track down the accused.
In a major breakthrough, the police arrested the primary suspects, identified as Yuvaraj (28), an autorickshaw driver, and Gangaraju (30), a delivery worker. Both are currently being interrogated.
Kiran, a resident of KR Puram, was reportedly unemployed and had multiple cases registered against him at the local police station.
A case has been registered at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to murder.
The brutal nature of the crime, coupled with its occurrence on a public road and the involvement of known individuals, has raised fresh concerns about safety in Bengaluru's eastern outskirts.
Residents have called for increased night patrolling and stronger preventive measures to curb such violent incidents.
