A disturbing case has come to light in Bengaluru where a man posing as an astrologer allegedly assaulted a woman under the guise of performing religious rituals and later threatened her with 'black magic' to silence her.
According to police, the accused gained the victim's trust by offering to conduct special pujas to resolve personal issues. During these sessions, he allegedly exploited the situation to assault her repeatedly.
The woman reportedly endured the abuse for some time due to fear and manipulation.
Officials said the accused threatened the woman with consequences linked to black magic if she disclosed the incidents. Such intimidation, police noted, is often used to control victims and prevent complaints.
Despite the threats, the woman later approached authorities and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police have arrested the accused and registered a case under relevant provisions, including those related to assault and criminal intimidation. Further investigation is underway to determine if more victims are involved.
