The event witnessed participation from over 600 students and faculty members, highlighting strong youth engagement in promoting awareness against substance abuse.

The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Ms. Geetha D. Kulkarni, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru, who lit the ceremonial lamp and addressed the gathering.

She spoke about the legal implications of substance abuse, particularly among youth, and emphasised the importance of awareness and responsible behaviour. She urged students to remain vigilant and actively contribute to building a drug-free society.

As part of the event, she distributed prizes to winners of a reel-making competition organised to spread awareness. In a later session, she delivered an engaging talk encouraging students to become ambassadors of change in society. Her interaction inspired participants with a strong message of responsibility and national commitment.

Rev. Sr. Prof. Dr. Dhanya Devasia, Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing, administered the anti-drug pledge, reinforcing the importance of awareness, personal responsibility, and service to the nation.

Presiding over the function, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, delivered a thought-provoking address on the dangers of substance abuse.

He described how addiction gradually affects individuals, transforming them from active members of society into individuals facing serious personal and social consequences. He cautioned that even a single exposure to harmful substances can lead to addiction.

He urged students to preserve the healthy campus culture by focusing on academics, sports, and cultural activities instead of falling into harmful habits.

A pre-inaugural session was conducted by Dr. Anupa Arunkumar Shenoy, Assistant Professor at Father Muller Medical College Hospital, who spoke on the health impacts of substance abuse. She highlighted its adverse effects on both physical and mental well-being.

Adding a creative dimension, NSS volunteers staged an awareness mime that effectively conveyed the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of making informed choices.

Rev. Fr. George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital, presented certificates and mementoes to judges in recognition of their contributions.

The event was attended by Dr. Agnes EJ, Vice Principal of Father Muller College of Nursing; Mr. Abin Kuriakose, Assistant Professor and NSS Coordinator; Ms. Asha AV, Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator; and Prof. Sonia Lobo, Head of the Department of Mental Health Nursing.
