Nitin Gadkari has directed officials to ensure complete preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season across Karnataka's national highway network.
The Union minister instructed authorities to take preventive steps and strengthen emergency response systems to maintain road safety, structural stability and uninterrupted traffic movement.
Gadkari conducted a detailed review of 7,926 km of National Highways in Karnataka, based on feedback received through media reports and social media platforms.
The meeting was held in New Delhi and attended by senior officials from the ministry, highway agencies and contractors.
The review was also attended by Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra.
Officials from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and National Highways Authority of India were present along with project contractors.
Gadkari stressed timely execution of ongoing projects, strict quality standards and the use of advanced technology for durable and efficient road infrastructure.
He reportedly instructed agencies to remain proactive in addressing landslides, potholes, drainage issues and structural concerns during the rainy season.
Heavy rains often affect several highway stretches in Karnataka, especially ghat roads, flood-prone corridors and busy freight routes.
The latest review signals the Centre's focus on reducing disruptions and improving commuter safety ahead of the monsoon.
