HCL gives free metro ride after Arijit Singh concert

News Karnataka 1 month ago

Noida:HCL Technologies employees received an unexpected perk after attending a private concert by Arijit Singh, as metro services were extended and made free for staff following the late-night event.

The concert, held at HCL's Noida campus, was part of the company's 50-year anniversary celebrations and saw the presence of founder Shiv Nadar, along with Kiran Nadar and chairperson Roshni Nadar.

According to a viral video shared by employee Ayush Singh, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation extended metro services until 12:30 am specifically for HCL employees attending the concert.

In addition to extended timings, employees were reportedly allowed to travel for free by simply showing their HCL ID cards at metro stations.

The video shows large groups of employees entering metro stations without tickets, highlighting the scale of the arrangement. The employee described the experience as 'unbelievable,' adding that it exceeded expectations.

The Instagram video quickly gained traction online, crossing over 2.8 million views and drawing hundreds of comments.

Many users praised the initiative, calling it a thoughtful gesture that prioritised employee convenience and safety after a late-night event. Others pointed out that similar arrangements were also made for the Noida Metro network.

However, some users suggested alternative arrangements, such as providing cab services for employees.

The concert was organised as part of HCLTech's golden jubilee celebrations. Founded in 1976 by a group of engineers led by Shiv Nadar, the company has grown into one of India's leading IT services firms.

During the event, Roshni Nadar announced that the company plans to host nine concerts across different cities over the next year for its employees.

The next event is expected to take place in Lucknow later this month, with music composer Pritam likely to headline the show.

The initiative reflects a broader trend among large corporations to enhance employee experience through unique engagement activities. By combining entertainment with practical support such as transportation, companies aim to build stronger connections with their workforce.

For many employees, the extended metro service turned out to be the highlight of the evening, ensuring a smooth and safe journey home after the celebrations.

HCLTech's decision to arrange free and extended metro services for employees after the concert has drawn widespread appreciation. The gesture not only added value to the celebratory event but also highlighted the company's focus on employee welfare and convenience.
