House-made noodles bring a warm monsoon feast to Chennai

House-made noodles bring a warm monsoon feast to Chennai

Chennai: Chennai's monsoon season is getting a flavourful boost with Nasi and Mee's Tokyo Noodle Edit, a food festival bringing together house-made noodles, rich broths and Japanese-inspired dishes with Southeast Asian influences.

The menu combines generous portions with carefully prepared ingredients, making it particularly suited to rainy-day dining and group meals.

Satay and seafood set the mood

The experience begins with spicy and Malaysian chicken satay, both described as well-charred, juicy and well-marinated. The Malaysian version carries a slightly sweeter profile, balanced by chilli oil or peanut sauce.

The salmon nigiri, topped with jalapeño, caviar and microgreens, is another highlight, while the som tam delivers a spicy kick complemented by peanuts.

The Singapore creamy butter jumbo prawns provide a richer option. While the large prawns are well prepared, the sweet coating is considered heavier than the natural sweetness of the seafood.

Ramen takes centre stage

The Curry ramen is among the festival's standout dishes. Its broth combines coriander, curry powder, cumin, turmeric, ginger-garlic and chicken stock, bringing Indian flavours together with Japanese ramen elements.

It is served with fish cake, bok choy, chives, fried katsu chicken and a ramen egg.

The Spicy miso ramen offers another layered experience, with charred chicken, gochujang and miso creating a rich broth. Bok choy, chilli oil, ramen egg and narutomaki complete the bowl.

A feast made for sharing

With generous portions, the festival encourages diners to order several dishes and share them across the table. The experience works particularly well for groups looking to sample different flavours.

The Tokyo Noodle Edit is available at Nasi and Mee outlets until August 31, from noon to 10.30 pm, with dishes priced from ₹495.
