Mangaluru: The Konkani Reading Club, functioning at Sujir C. V. Nayak Hall under the aegis of G.S.B. Seva Sangha, conducted a special session this week, bringing together Konkani language enthusiasts for literary activities and competitions.
The club, which has been active for the past one year, hosts weekly sessions every Wednesday, where participants recite and engage with Konkani literature, promoting the language and its cultural richness.
The special session featured a series of competitions for members, including Konkani story writing, storytelling, and describing places of interest. These activities aimed to encourage creativity and literary expression among participants.
Attractive prizes were sponsored by Dr. Kasturi Mohan Pai, President of the society, on the occasion of his 75th birthday.
In the Konkani story writing competition, Vidya Pai secured the first place, followed by Suchitra Shenoy in second place and Venkatesh Baliga in third place.
In the storytelling and descriptive competitions, Radhika Pai and Dr. Ramesh Pai were among the winners for their presentations on places of interest.
Prizes were distributed by Usha Mohan Pai in the presence of members and guests.
The programme began with a welcome address by Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, while M. R. Kamath conducted the proceedings. Shambhavi Prabhu proposed the vote of thanks.
Several members including B. R. Shenoy, K. C. Prabhu, M. S. Prabhu, Govindaraya Prabhu, Geetha C. Kini, Meenakshi Pai, Prabha Bhat, Suvarni Padiyar, Mohandas Pai, Srilatha Kamath, and Ashoka Nayak were present during the event.
The Konkani Reading Club continues to serve as a platform for language lovers to come together, share literature, and preserve Konkani cultural heritage through regular interactive sessions.
