Seoul: South Korea's biggest entertainment companies are joining forces to launch a large-scale global music festival, in a move that could reshape the international K-pop landscape.

The 'Big 4' agencies—HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment—have announced plans to collaborate on a joint venture for the project, tentatively titled Phenomenon.

The initiative marks a rare collaboration between the industry's biggest competitors. Together, the agencies represent some of the most globally recognised K-pop acts, including BTS, BLACKPINK, Stray Kids, and aespa.

According to reports, the companies are in the process of establishing a new corporation dedicated to organising concerts and producing the festival. A merger notification has already been submitted to South Korea's Fair Trade Commission for regulatory approval.

Each of the four agencies is expected to hold equal equity in the venture, although leadership roles such as CEO and board structure are yet to be finalised.

The vision, first outlined by JYP founder Park Jin-young, aims to create a 'world-class K-pop concert venue' and a festival that could eventually surpass existing global benchmarks.

The first edition of Phenomenon is targeted for December 2027, with plans to expand into a touring festival across major cities worldwide from 2028.
