Pathanamthitta: A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus lost control and crashed into a roadside shop at Puthanpeetika near Omallur in Pathanamthitta district, injuring one person on Friday.
The injured has been identified as Ajay Chandran, who was standing at the shop and drinking a soft drink when the accident occurred. According to reports, he sustained minor injuries and is stated to be out of danger.
Bus hit pickup van before crashing
According to preliminary information, the KSRTC bus was travelling from Pathanamthitta to Kollam when it reportedly lost control.
Before crashing into the shop, the bus allegedly collided with a pickup van. The impact caused the bus to veer off the road and ram into the roadside establishment.
Fortunately, no passengers travelling on the bus were injured in the incident.
Locals allege overspeeding
Residents in the area alleged that the bus was being driven at a high speed before the accident. However, the exact cause of the crash is yet to be officially confirmed.
Police are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to the collision, including whether overspeeding or any mechanical failure contributed to the accident.
The incident caused panic among people in the locality, while locals rushed to help the injured and alert the authorities.
