A heartwarming story shared by a Delhi-based trader has struck a chord online, highlighting the simplicity and emotional depth of a mother-son relationship.

Sahil Raj Kumar, who describes himself as a day trader and Managing Director of VedicCraft, shared the anecdote on social media platform X.

He explained that his mother, despite being financially comfortable, rarely spends on luxury items for herself. During a recent shopping trip for glasses, she came across a pair priced at around $1,200 (approximately ₹1.1 lakh).

While on a video call with her son, she showed him the glasses she liked but immediately refused to purchase them after learning the price. Sahil offered to buy them for her as a gift, but she declined, saying he should consider such expenses only when he earns ₹5-6 lakh per month.

Unaware of her son's actual income, she believed the purchase would be too extravagant.

Sahil shared that it took him nearly 30 minutes to convince his mother that he was earning well above that threshold. Once she understood, she finally agreed to accept the glasses as a gift from him.

The trader described the experience as a 'very wholesome day,' capturing a moment of pride, affection, and mutual understanding.

The story quickly went viral, with many users relating to the sentiment. Several shared similar experiences of parents hesitating to spend on themselves, even when financially secure.

Others pointed out that such gestures often hold deeper emotional value than the gift itself, reflecting gratitude and love between generations.

The incident highlights a familiar trait in many Indian households—parents prioritising savings and modest living, even when circumstances allow for comfort.

For many, the story served as a gentle reminder that beyond material value, it is the emotion and intent behind a gesture that truly matters.
