NTA revises JEE Main 2026 schedule and centres

NTA revises JEE Main 2026 schedule and centres

News Karnataka 2 months ago

The National Testing Agency has introduced key revisions to the schedule and examination centres for JEE Main 2026 Session 2, which commenced on April 2, 2026, across India and overseas centres.

The changes come in response to multiple concerns raised by candidates, including global geopolitical tensions, festival clashes, and overlapping board examination schedules. The move aims to ensure fairness, safety, and convenience for lakhs of aspirants appearing for one of India's most competitive entrance examinations.

The NTA cited three primary reasons for revising the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 schedule and centres.

Due to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, particularly involving Iran and Israel, several candidates had requested changes in their examination centres. The NTA responded by reallocating centres to ensure the safety and accessibility of affected students.

This decision was crucial for candidates based in or travelling through sensitive regions, allowing them to appear for the examination without disruption.

Another major factor was the overlap of exam dates with Easter. Several candidates had raised concerns about the exam scheduled on April 5, which coincided with the festival.

Taking these requests into account, the NTA has rescheduled exams for affected candidates, demonstrating flexibility in accommodating religious observances.

A significant number of JEE aspirants are also appearing for Class XII board exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.

To prevent scheduling conflicts, the NTA coordinated with CBSE and introduced a special provision in the application form. Candidates were asked to provide their CBSE roll numbers, enabling the agency to align JEE Main dates with their board exam schedules.

This data-driven approach helped minimise overlaps and ensured that students did not have to choose between crucial examinations.

The NTA also considered individual requests from aspirants who had other examination commitments. Based on these inputs, further adjustments were made to the exam schedule.

These measures reflect a more student-centric approach, ensuring that candidates can perform without unnecessary stress or logistical challenges.

To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, the NTA has implemented advanced security measures at all centres.

These include:

All centres will be monitored through a centralised command and control system, strengthening transparency and preventing unfair practices.

The NTA has released admit cards for candidates scheduled to appear between April 5 and April 8, 2026. Students can download their hall tickets from the official website using their application number and password.

Earlier, admit cards for the April 2 and April 4 examinations were issued on March 29, 2026.

Candidates are advised to carefully check their revised exam date, timing, and centre details mentioned on the admit card to avoid any confusion on the day of the examination.

The NTA's decision to revise the JEE Main 2026 schedule highlights its responsiveness to candidate concerns in a complex and evolving situation. By addressing issues ranging from global conflicts to academic clashes and religious observances, the agency has taken significant steps to ensure a smooth and equitable examination process.

As the exams continue, candidates are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and focus on their preparation.
