Rasikh Salam Dar showcased composure and control beyond his years on a slightly sluggish Chinnaswamy pitch. He struck early to dismiss Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni, putting LSG on the back foot in the powerplay.

Despite early rejections in selection trials, Rasikh continued to pursue his dream. At one stage, he even considered quitting cricket, but encouragement from his family pushed him to attend the Jammu and Kashmir U-19 trials.

It was here that former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who was associated with talent scouting in the region, recognised his potential and helped him progress into the state setup.

Rasikh's journey has not been without setbacks. He earned an IPL contract with Mumbai Indians in 2019 and made his debut as a teenager, marking a significant milestone in his career.

However, his progress was halted when he faced a two-year suspension from the BCCI due to a discrepancy related to his birth certificate. The ban stalled his momentum at a crucial stage.

He later joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2022 but struggled with injuries and form, managing only limited appearances. Despite these challenges, RCB showed confidence in his abilities and invested in him ahead of the 2025 season.

That faith is now beginning to pay dividends, as his performance against LSG demonstrated his capability to deliver on the big stage.

Rasikh's success carries emotional significance for his family and hometown. His father had once expressed unwavering belief in his son's potential, even during the toughest phases.

'Rasikh has seen troubled times… but I always believed he would make it one day,' he had said in an earlier interview.

His memorable outing in IPL 2026 seemed to validate that belief, with his journey becoming a source of pride for his village. As his father aptly put it, 'Apne gaon ka naam uncha kar diya' (He has made his village proud).
