Mangaluru: The Bimba Pratishtha (idol consecration) and Brahmakalashotsava of the Sri Shanaishchara Temple at Padavu in Kulshekar will be held from April 18 to 24, featuring an elaborate schedule of Vedic rituals and cultural programmes.
The temple is managed by the Hindu Yuva Sene.
Announcing the programme at a press conference held on the temple premises on April 16, Brahmakalashotsava Committee president Nalin Kumar Kateel said the ceremonies will be conducted under the guidance of priests M Giridhar Bhat and Dr Sathyakrishna Bhat. The event will begin with a mass prayer on April 18.
A series of traditional rituals will be conducted over the course of the week. From April 18 to 22, major ceremonies such as 108 Kaayi Ganayaga, Rudrayaga, and Lakshminarayana Pradhana Homa will be performed as part of the spiritual proceedings.
On April 23, the key event of idol consecration will take place, including the installation of idols of Lord Ganapati, Goddess Durga, Navagraha, and Sri Shanaishchara. This will be followed by the Brahmakalasha Abhisheka, marking a significant moment in the temple's spiritual calendar.
The celebrations will conclude on April 24 with Chandika Yaga and the grand Shanaishchara Mahayaga, drawing devotees from across the region.
As part of the festivities, a Hasiruvaani (offering procession) will be organised on April 19 at 9 am. The procession will commence from the Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple and proceed to the Padavu temple premises. It will be flagged off by Raghavendra Shastri.
Later in the evening, a gathering of the Hindu Yuva Sene will be held at Shivaji Mantapa, bringing together members and devotees as part of the celebrations.
In addition to religious rituals, the event will feature a variety of cultural programmes, including Yakshagana performances, dramas, and musical events, providing a festive atmosphere throughout the week.
Annasantarpane (mass feeding) will be arranged daily for devotees attending the event, ensuring community participation and hospitality. Organisers have extended an open invitation to the public to take part in the celebrations in large numbers.
Several prominent members associated with the आयोजन were present at the press conference. These included MLA Vedavyas Kamath, who is also serving as the working president of the committee, along with general secretary Bhaskar Chandra Shetty.
Others present included Shanaishchara Pooja Committee president Ramachandra Chowta, Mathrumandali president Vijaya Arun, Temple Construction Committee president Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, and Umesh Rai.
The week-long Brahmakalashotsava at the Sri Shanaishchara Temple is expected to draw large gatherings of devotees and cultural enthusiasts. With a blend of spiritual rituals and cultural programmes, the event reflects the region's rich religious traditions and community spirit.
