Six foreign women were arrested in Bengaluru after they were allegedly found soliciting men in a public place for prostitution, police said on Tuesday.

The arrests were made on April 24 by the Central Crime Branch Women Protection Wing.

According to police, officials received information that some foreign women were standing near the footpath close to Madiwala Check Post within the limits of Koramangala Police Station.

They were allegedly approaching men passing through the area and soliciting them for prostitution.

Based on the tip-off, officers from the Women Protection Wing visited the location and conducted verification.

During the operation, six women were found allegedly engaging in illegal activities, following which police conducted a raid and took them into custody.

Authorities did not disclose the nationalities of the women in the official statement.

Police said the women were asked to produce passports and visa documents but allegedly failed to provide valid and satisfactory information during questioning.

All six were later produced before Koramangala Police Station for further legal action.

A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.

Officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities and human exploitation in the city.
