Corporation Commissioner K N Ramesh announced on Saturday that the vehicles will begin operations from Monday, marking a renewed enforcement push to improve traffic management in the southern parts of the city.

Officials stated that the towing vehicles will be used to remove vehicles parked in violation of traffic rules, particularly in high-density areas where illegal parking contributes to congestion and disrupts smooth vehicular movement.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline traffic flow and ensure better utilisation of road space in Bengaluru, which continues to grapple with increasing vehicle numbers.

In a move towards transparency and efficiency, towing vehicle operators will be equipped with point-of-sale (POS) machines to collect fines digitally on the spot. This system is expected to reduce manual handling of cash and provide immediate receipts to vehicle owners.

Authorities believe that digital payment options will also encourage compliance and make enforcement more efficient.

Officials confirmed that the revenue generated from fines will be shared between the traffic police and the civic body. This coordinated approach is aimed at strengthening enforcement while ensuring accountability in operations.

The collaboration between civic authorities and traffic police is expected to improve monitoring and quick response to violations.

The corporation has urged motorists to adhere strictly to designated parking norms and avoid leaving vehicles unattended in no-parking zones. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against violators as part of the ongoing drive.
