Mangaluru: St. Aloysius ITI, Mangaluru, organised a solemn condolence meeting to honour the memory of Late Rev. Fr. Melwin J. Pinto, SJ, who passed away on April 10, 2026. The tribute programme, held on April 13, 2026, brought together staff, students, and members of the institution to pay their respects and remember his invaluable contributions to education and society.
Rev. Fr. Melwin J. Pinto, SJ, had served in several key roles, including Rector of St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Vice President of the Mangaluru Jesuit Educational Society (MJES), and Pro-Chancellor of St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. His leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the academic community.
The condolence programme witnessed the presence of Director Rev. Fr. John D'Souza, SJ, Principal Mr. Roshan D'Souza, Vice Principal Mr. Alwyn Menezes, Training Officer Mr. Noel Lobo, and Mr. Wilson N, along with staff and students.
The event was compered by Mr. Noel Lobo, who conducted the proceedings with dignity and reverence, maintaining the solemnity of the occasion. The ceremony began with a prayer service led by Mr. Wilson N, invoking peace and eternal rest for the departed soul.
Addressing the gathering, Director Rev. Fr. John D'Souza, SJ, expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Rev. Fr. Melwin J. Pinto, SJ. He reflected on his life of service, his commitment to Jesuit values, and his remarkable contributions as an educator and administrator. He emphasised how his leadership had positively influenced generations of students and faculty.
Principal Mr. Roshan D'Souza also shared his grief and paid tribute to the departed soul. He highlighted Rev. Fr. Pinto's visionary leadership, unwavering dedication to student welfare, and his enduring impact on the institution and the wider academic community.
A special prayer ceremony was held during the programme, where staff and students collectively offered prayers for the eternal repose of Rev. Fr. Melwin J. Pinto, SJ. The atmosphere was marked by silence, reflection, and deep respect, as attendees remembered his life and contributions.
As a mark of homage, a flower offering ceremony was conducted, during which all present paid their respects by offering flowers to the image of the departed. The gesture symbolised gratitude and reverence for his service and legacy.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vice Principal Mr. Alwyn Menezes, who expressed appreciation to all those present for their participation and support during the solemn occasion.
