News Karnataka 5 days ago

Bengaluru: The University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, one of Australia's highest-ranked universities, has officially launched its first international campus in Bengaluru , marking a major milestone in India-Australia higher education collaboration.

Ranked among the world’s top 20 universities in the QS World University Rankings 2027, UNSW’s Bengaluru campus will welcome its inaugural batch of students in August 2026. The campus has been established after receiving approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the framework of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which allows leading foreign universities to establish campuses in the country.

Courses to focus on future-ready skills

Located at Embassy Manyata Business Park, the Bengaluru campus will initially offer undergraduate programmes in Business, Computer Science, and Data Science, along with a postgraduate programme in Cyber Security. The university plans to introduce additional programmes in the coming academic year.

UNSW has said students in Bengaluru will receive the same academic quality and globally recognised standards as those studying at its Sydney campus, while benefiting from close industry engagement in one of India’s leading technology hubs.

Boost to India’s global education landscape

University officials said the new campus reflects UNSW’s long-term commitment to India and aims to strengthen academic collaboration, research and innovation between the two countries.

The launch also coincided with Australia’s inauguration of its Consulate-General in Bengaluru, highlighting the growing partnership between India and Australia in education, trade, technology and research.

With several international universities choosing Bengaluru as their India base, the city continues to strengthen its position as a global education and innovation hub, offering Indian students access to world-class education without leaving the country.
