Mangaluru: The Tulu film '90 ML', produced by Dolphy D'Souza under the banner of DD Productions and directed by Ranjith C Bajal, was released on Friday at Bharath Cinemas with a formal inaugural ceremony marked by the lighting of the lamp.
The release marks another addition to the growing list of regional films in Tulu, reflecting continued efforts by filmmakers to strengthen the coastal film industry.
Speaking at the event, Vijaya of Benjanapadavu Koragajja Kshetra expressed appreciation for the increasing number of quality films being produced in Tulu. He said such initiatives are encouraging for the language and its cultural representation, and hoped that '90 ML' would resonate with audiences.
Producer Prakash Pandeshwar said he had watched the trailer and found its style reminiscent of Malayalam cinema. He noted that the title of the film was striking and extended his best wishes to the team.
Lanchulal K S described the title '90 ML' as unique and said the film's success would depend largely on the support of Tulu-speaking audiences. Actor Arjun Dev added a lighter note, remarking that while '90 ML' should remain distant from real life, it should stay close to viewers' hearts.
The launch event witnessed the presence of several members of the film fraternity and crew. Among those present were Swaraj Shetty, Siddharth, Trishul Shetty, Anand Kumpala, Jagannath Shetty Bala, Mohan Koppal, Vineeth Kumar, Ruhani Shetty, Roshan Shetty, Shailashree and Dhrithi.
The programme was compered by VJ Madhuraj.
'90 ML' has been released across multiple centres in coastal Karnataka, including Mangaluru, Udupi, Puttur, Beltangady, Padubidri, Surathkal, Karkala and Deralakatte. The film has been shot at various locations across Dakshina Kannada district, showcasing local settings and culture.
The film features a cast that includes Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Umesh Mijar, Deepak Rai Panaje and Pushparaj Bollaru, along with others.
Director Ranjith C Bajal has handled the story, screenplay and direction of the film. Dialogues have been written by Tulasidas Mangeshwar.
Cinematography is by Arjun MV, while music has been composed by Srujan Kumar Tonse. Editing is handled by Sachin Ram, and design by Acharya Guru.
The film blends comedy and entertainment, aiming to appeal to the tastes of regional audiences while contributing to the growth of Tulu cinema.
