New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the UGC-NET June 2026 results for English, Commerce and Sociology, the three subjects for which a re-examination was conducted earlier this month.
The results were announced on September 17, with 824 candidates qualifying for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
The re-examination for the three subjects was conducted on September 9 and 10 at 454 examination centres across 272 cities. According to the NTA, 1,96,491 candidates had registered for the three subjects, while 1,20,355 candidates appeared for the re-examination.
Candidates who appeared for the examination can now access and download their UGC-NET scorecards through the official UGC-NET website.
UGC-NET results declared for English, Commerce and Sociology
The latest results cover only English, Commerce and Sociology, which were re-examined separately after the NTA ordered fresh examinations for the three papers.
Of the 1,20,355 candidates who appeared for the re-examination, 824 qualified for JRF, while 11,610 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility. Another 23,154 candidates qualified for admission to PhD-only programmes, according to the NTA's result data.
The NTA said the eligibility and supporting documents of candidates who have qualified will be verified by the concerned authorities according to the norms prescribed in the UGC-NET June 2026 information bulletin.
The agency has made the results available through the UGC-NET website, where candidates can log in to view, download and print their scorecards.
Over 1.96 lakh candidates registered
The three subjects together recorded 1,96,491 registered candidates for the UGC-NET June 2026 examination.
Of the registered candidates, 1,20,355 appeared for the September re-examination. The NTA's official figures show that women accounted for 1,29,552 of the registrations, while 66,931 were male candidates and eight were registered under the third-gender category.
The re-examination was held at 454 centres spread across 272 cities in the country.
The exercise was conducted after the NTA had earlier decided to reconduct the English, Commerce and Sociology papers instead of including the original examination results for these subjects in the main June 2026 result process.
Answer key challenges examined before results
Before announcing the results, the NTA made the question papers, provisional answer keys and recorded responses available to candidates.
According to the agency, these materials were hosted on the official website from September 10 to September 13, allowing candidates to raise challenges against the provisional answer keys.
The challenges received from candidates were examined and verified by subject experts. The results were subsequently processed using the answer keys finalised by the experts.
The final answer keys for the three re-examined subjects have also been released by the NTA.
Why were English, Commerce and Sociology re-examined?
The June 2026 UGC-NET examination was originally conducted across multiple dates and covered 87 subjects. However, the English, Commerce and Sociology papers were subsequently removed from the original result process after concerns were raised over errors in the question papers.
The NTA had announced the reconduct of these three papers and scheduled the fresh examinations for September 9 and 10.
English and Commerce were conducted on September 9, while Sociology was conducted on September 10. The re-examination was conducted specifically for candidates who had appeared for these subjects in the June session. The NTA had also stated that candidates would not be required to pay the examination fee again for the re-examination.
The official NTA website now lists separate result and final-answer-key notices for the three re-examined subjects.
Results for the other UGC-NET subjects
The September re-examination did not cover all UGC-NET subjects. Results for the other 84 subjects were processed separately.
The NTA website lists the June 2026 result notice and category-wise cut-off information for the 84 subjects, apart from the separate notices issued for English, Commerce and Sociology.
The separation of the three subjects from the main result process was linked to the decision to conduct fresh examinations for them.
With the results for English, Commerce and Sociology now declared, the NTA has completed the result process for these three re-examined papers as well.
What is UGC-NET?
The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, or UGC-NET, is conducted by the NTA to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship, appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD programmes, depending on the qualification category achieved by a candidate.
The UGC-NET qualification categories include JRF, eligibility for Assistant Professor and admission to PhD, as well as the PhD-only category. The official UGC-NET website states that qualification is determined on the basis of a candidate's aggregate performance in the relevant parts of the examination.
Candidates qualifying under the JRF category may be considered for the fellowship subject to the applicable rules, while those qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility can be considered for appointment according to the requirements of the concerned institution and applicable regulations.
Candidates qualifying under the PhD-only category are eligible for admission to PhD programmes subject to the admission rules of the respective institutions.

Candidates who appeared for the English, Commerce or Sociology re-examination can check their results online.
The steps are:

- Open the UGC-NET June 2026 Score Card (Re-Exam) link.
- Log in using the required credentials.
- View the result and download the scorecard.
- Take a printout or save a digital copy for future reference.
The NTA has confirmed that the scorecards can be viewed, downloaded and printed through the official UGC-NET website.
