Mumbai: A 26-year-old woman was dramatically rescued by the Mumbai Fire Brigade after she allegedly jumped from the 10th floor of a building in suburban Bhandup on Wednesday morning and became trapped in an adjacent tree.
The woman, identified as Pratiksha Hiwrale, allegedly plunged from the window of a flat in Sunshine Building on Lake Road. She landed in a nearby tree and was found hanging around 20-25 feet above the ground, according to a report by Rediff citing PTI.
Fire brigade races to rescue her
The Mumbai Fire Brigade received an alert at around 9.32 am following the incident. Fire brigade personnel reached the building and carried out the rescue operation using a hook ladder.
Hiwrale was brought safely down from the tree and subsequently taken to a private hospital in an ambulance.
Woman shifted for surgery
Doctors found that Hiwrale had suffered an injury to her left leg. She was later shifted to Sion Hospital, where she was scheduled to undergo surgery, a civic official said.
The circumstances leading to the alleged jump were not provided in the report. The incident highlights the importance of prompt emergency response in situations involving people trapped at height.
