Mangaluru: The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital, a constituent unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), organised a workshop on 'Nutrition Life Cycle' on March 27, 2026, at the Seminar Hall, YPRC.
The workshop aimed to provide practical insights into nutritional requirements across different stages of life and promote evidence-based approaches in diet assessment and planning.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Dr. Mohammed Gulzar Ahmed, Principal of YPCRC, and presided over by Dr. Puneeth Raghavendra, Principal of Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yogic Science College and Hospital.
The organisers highlighted the importance of understanding nutritional needs at every stage of life, from infancy to old age, and stressed the role of proper diet in maintaining overall health and preventing diseases.
The workshop featured technical sessions delivered by eminent resource persons from reputed institutions.
Dr. Daniella, Professor and Head of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, delivered a session on 'Nutrition Across the Life Cycle: Practical Approaches to Nutritional Assessment.' She explained the importance of tailored nutritional strategies based on age, lifestyle, and health conditions.
Ms. Rohini Bhadra, Senior Research Nutritionist at St John's Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru, conducted an interactive hands-on session on 'Diet Assessment and Meal Planning.' The session focused on practical methods of evaluating dietary patterns and designing balanced meal plans.
Dr. Sreeshyam K S, Senior Resident in the Department of Community Medicine at Father Muller Medical College, Mangaluru, presented a session on 'Community-Based Strategies for Life Cycle Nutrition: Interventions and Case Studies.' He highlighted the importance of community-level interventions in improving nutritional outcomes.
The workshop witnessed active participation from around 150 delegates representing various colleges and institutions. Participants included undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, nutritionists, dieticians, and healthcare professionals.
The diverse participation enriched discussions and provided opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration among attendees.
The event was successfully coordinated by the organising committee comprising Dr. Ajith K, Assistant Professor-cum-Dietician, and Dr. Sunitha, Assistant Professor.
Their efforts ensured smooth execution of the programme and effective engagement of participants throughout the sessions.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, emphasising the importance of integrating sound nutritional practices into community health initiatives. The programme reinforced the need for evidence-based nutrition strategies to improve overall well-being and promote a healthier society.
