Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday announced to withdraw cases and release wages of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees who were on strike for three days recently.
The CM also announced a major infrastructure push to revive the financially strained Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC).
Strike wages cleared, cases to be withdrawn
Responding positively to representations from RTC unions, the Chief Minister directed Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and officials to immediately process payments for the strike period and initiate steps to withdraw legal cases filed during the agitation.
The move was welcomed by union leaders, who met the Chief Minister at his Jubilee Hills residence and expressed gratitude for the government's intervention.
Major infra push: New bus terminals planned
As part of long-term infrastructure development, the government will establish an international-standard bus terminal across 150 acres at Shamshabad.
Additionally, 100 acres have already been allocated at Gajularamaram for another major terminal, aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
Shift to EV buses to cut diesel burden
Highlighting the financial strain caused by rising fuel costs, the Chief Minister announced the induction of 1,000 electric buses to reduce dependence on diesel, which currently costs the RTC around ₹2,000 crore annually.
The EV fleet will also be integrated with Metro Rail services to ensure seamless urban mobility. Plans are also underway to introduce mini-buses into the fleet.
Clearing dues, PRC decision soon
The Chief Minister assured workers that the government is committed to clearing pending dues, noting that ₹1,000 crore has already been released. He added that decisions regarding financial issues, including the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), will be taken soon.
He urged unions to engage in internal discussions and present practical solutions for a sustainable turnaround.
Appeal against strikes, political influence
Cautioning workers against being influenced by opposition politics, the Chief Minister stressed that repeated strikes and dharnas could further damage the corporation. He called for cooperation in efforts to reduce the debt burden and strengthen the organization.
No job losses, focus on revival
Reassuring employees, the Chief Minister said that no driver would be removed and emphasized that revival of the RTC is a shared responsibility.
He highlighted that the government has already extended ₹8,000 crore support through the Mahalakshmi Scheme and is committed to protecting workers' rights while improving services.
Better communication, stronger coordination
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to improve coordination between depot managers and workers, ensuring smoother operations and quicker resolution of grievances. He reiterated the government's commitment to addressing 100% of workers' issues.
The meeting was attended by MPs Vem Narender Reddy and Anil Kumar Yadav, senior officials including Vikas Raj and Srinivasa Raju, RTC MD Y. Nagireddy, and several MLAs. Representatives from multiple RTC unions across Telangana also participated in the discussions.
