Hyderabad: A suspected theft involving A4 paper worth Rs 10 lakh has been reported at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Sanath Nagar.
What is the theft about?
According to Sanjeev Reddy Nagar police, Dr Shirishkumar Gulabrao Chavan, Dean of the institution, lodged a complaint stating that the college had purchased 2,880 boxes containing 14,400 reams of A4 paper from Shree Sati Traders.
The consignment, comprising KR Gold Copier Paper (80 GSM), was delivered to the campus on February 14 and stored in the general store located in the cellar (-1 level) of the B-Block quarters.
During a routine inspection conducted on May 2 by Store In-charge CT Venkata Krishna Reddy, it was discovered that 1,500 boxes were missing from the store. An internal inquiry was carried out on the same day, but the missing stock could not be traced.
Based on the circumstances, officials suspect theft of the paper stock.
Following the complaint, Sanjeev Reddy Nagar police registered a case under Sections 305(a) and 305(e) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and have taken up an investigation. Police are working to identify those responsible for the theft.
