Centre's grain procurement process discriminatory towards Telangana: Peddapalli MP Vamsi Krishna

Centre's grain procurement process discriminatory towards Telangana: Peddapalli MP Vamsi Krishna

News Meter 1 week ago

Peddapalli: Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna today alleged that the central government's new grain procurement process is discriminatory towards the farmers of Telangana.

Krishana said the Dalit farmers are purposely being left out of the procurement process.

Allegations of Caste-Based Discrimination in Procurement

Vamsi Krishna accused the Peddapalli district administration of deliberately stalling grain procurement, specifically targeting farmers from the Mancherial and Nirmal districts. He suggested a darker motive behind the administrative delays, questioning if the discrimination was rooted in the fact that a large number of the affected farmers belong to the Dalit community.

"They are betraying the farmers," Vamsi Krishna said. "I will unequivocally raise my voice. Whether I am in power or not, I am prepared to go to any extent to question these authorities on behalf of the people."

The MP provided specific figures to highlight the alleged negligence:

Total Storage Capacity: 6,00,000 metric tonnes.

Current Storage Utilized: 2,50,000 metric tonnes.

The Gap: Despite having room for 3,50,000 more tonnes, officials are reportedly refusing to unload grain from neighboring districts.

"Do you have no concern for the plight of the farmers?" he asked, warning officials to stay out of politics and focus on public service or face stern consequences.

The MP's criticism extended to New Delhi, where he accused the Centre of financial bias. He claimed that while Telangana contributes significant tax revenue to the national treasury, the funds returned to the state are being slashed in favor of states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Industrial Divergence: He slammed the decision to move a major semiconductor project-originally expected in Telangana-to Andhra Pradesh.

Resource Shortages: He blamed the Centre for negligence regarding urea production at the Ramagundam plant, which he claims has led to artificial shortages for local farmers.
