Hyderabad: Telangana government will begin distributing 1.05 crore newly issued laminated Public Distribution System (PDS) ration cards across the State from August 15, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations.

The statewide distribution program will be formally launched by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Sangareddy, while similar events will be held simultaneously in all 119 Assembly constituencies.

Announcing the initiative, Irrigation, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the program is aimed at strengthening food security for every eligible poor family in the State and ensuring that newly eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of the Public Distribution System and other welfare schemes.

The Minister said an official memo has been issued directing district administrations to make comprehensive arrangements for the distribution drive. Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) have been tasked with coordinating the program in their respective constituencies.

In light of the official Independence Day celebrations, the government has scheduled the ration card distribution from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on August 15.

Officials have been instructed to complete all preparatory work, including finalizing beneficiary lists, printing and transporting ration cards, setting up distribution centers, and ensuring adequate public amenities.
