Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The viral image is created by manipulating the original image showing the Bangladesh Police's new uniforms using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
What is the source of the image?
We did not find any news reports showing the viral image as the new uniform for the Bangladesh Forest Department.
Using keyword searches, we found a report regarding the Bangladesh police uniform revision by the Daily Observer news outlet. The report was published on April 21 with the title, 'Govt plans police uniform revision after discontent among officers.'
It contained an image showing the exact same two officers modelling the new uniforms, which are teal, blue and khaki coloured.
A comparison of this image and the viral image can be seen below.
The same image was also shared by The Business Standard in a report published on April 21. The image caption reads "New uniform proposed by police". The photo credits are given to "Police".
The report stated that The Business Standard has obtained a copy of the letter and image of the newly designed uniform. "The proposal, referenced under SRO No 109-Law/2025, outlines revisions to the existing police dress code, including updates to fabric types, colours, and overall design. The move is aimed at modernising the force's appearance while ensuring greater uniformity and practicality," it reads.
Using reverse image search we found that this image was shared by many Bangladesh news outlets, including Daily Sun, Times of Bangladesh, Kaler Kantho, Bonik Barta, Pratidin and Campus Times.
Is the image AI-manipulated?
The widespread presence of the image showing the same officers in teal and blue uniforms indicates that it is the original image. To check whether the viral image was tampered with using AI, we used an AI detection tool, Sight Engine. The tool's results reveal that the image is 94 per cent likely to be a deepfake.
Using Google DeepMind's SynthID detector, we found that the image was created using Google AI. This detector identifies digital watermarks embedded directly into images generated by Google AI. The embedded SynthID was detected on most of the image (blue tiles in the image shown below).
It is confirmed that the original image of the proposed Bangladesh Police uniform was manipulated using Google AI tools.
Therefore, NewsMeter concludes that the viral claim is false.
