Hyderabad: Former DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy and his wife are among the pilgrims affected by the heavy rains and floods in Nepal.
They are currently safe in Saga, according to information shared with their family members.
Satheesh Reddy and his group had crossed the flood-affected area on Thursday morning, just a few hours before heavy flooding hit the region. The group subsequently reached Saga, where Satheesh Reddy and his wife are reported to be safe.
31 pilgrims reported they are safe
Meanwhile, 31 pilgrims from Hyderabad who travelled to Manasarovar are stranded in the region due to the adverse weather and road conditions. The pilgrims have informed their families that they are safe and are currently at Manasarovar.
Pilgrims considering alternative routes home
The pilgrims are exploring an alternative route to return to India.
They are considering travelling through Tibet into China and then entering India, but this would depend on the China border being opened and the prevailing border conditions.
Family members of the Hyderabad pilgrims have been concerned following reports of flooding in Nepal and the region. However, the latest communication from the pilgrims indicates that all 31 are safe.
Authorities and the travel groups are expected to assess the situation and determine the safest route for the pilgrims to return to India as weather and border conditions evolve.
