Kuppam: Police have arrested YSRCP media affairs general secretary, Pudi Srihari, for alleged objectionable social media posts against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Srihari was a former CPRO in the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government.
According to police, the case pertains to the circulation of animated content and morphed images, controversially depicting the Chief Minister on social media platforms. He was arrested while allegedly attempting to go into hiding in Bengaluru.
Srihari was initially arrested in Vijayawada on April 15 and later shifted to Kuppam. He was produced before a trial court on April 16, which declined the police request for judicial remand, leading to his release. Subsequently, the High Court set aside the trial court's order and posted the matter for further hearing.
Meanwhile, senior advocate Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, representing Srihari, informed the High Court that his client had been arrested again by Kuppam police. He urged the court on Wednesday to take up the matter urgently, stating that the High Court had earlier suspended the lower court's order rejecting the remand plea. He contended that the fresh arrest violated the High Court's directions.
Justice Subhendu Samanta, responding to the submissions, agreed to hear the matter urgently and posted the case for hearing on Thursday.
