Hyderabad: Police have registered a case after a group of customers attacked a hotel staff over biryani.
According to Sanath Nagar police, the incident occurred around 12:00 AM on May 1 at Victoria Hotel in Bharathnagar.
Police said a customer initially visited the hotel and asked for a jumbo chicken biryani pack, but was informed that only four single packs were available. He purchased the available packets and left. However, he returned shortly after, alleging that the biryani did not contain leg pieces and demanded the same.
When the hotel owner informed him that the hotel had already closed and no additional items were available, the customer allegedly became aggressive. He reportedly began damaging property by throwing sofas and kicking doors in the AC dining area. Upon being questioned, the man called three others to the spot.
The group allegedly abused and assaulted the hotel owner and staff, attacking them with sticks and stones, causing bleeding injuries. During the incident, the complainant also reported the loss of his wristwatch, while a staff member lost a mobile phone and wallet.
Sanath Nagar police have registered a case under Sections 118(2), 115(2), 352, 324(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.
Counter complaint :
In a counter-complaint, P. Arun of Bharathnagar alleged that he had sent his friend Dileep to purchase chicken biryani, but found that it contained no chicken pieces. Following this, Arun, along with his friends Dileep, Rakesh, and Shiva, went to the hotel to question the owner, Mohin.
Arun claimed that the owner and his staff verbally abused them and allegedly assaulted him, striking his head with a large Manchurian spoon, resulting in a serious injury. He was later shifted to Omini Hospital in Kukatpally, where doctors administered eight stitches. He also alleged that their motorcycles parked outside the hotel were damaged during the altercation.
